Loris Healthcare System Awarded Joint Commission Certification

By demonstrating compliance with national standards for health care quality and safety, Loris Healthcare System has earned the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO) Gold Seal of Approval™.  This distinction was earned after an on-site review was conducted in early March 2006.  Facilities operated by Loris Healthcare System and included in this survey are Loris Community Hospital, Center for Health & Fitness, Seacoast Medical Center in Little River, Family Health Centers in Loris and Mount Olive.

Recently, JCAHO initiated a new process for conducting on-site surveys and certification reviews on an unannounced basis.  This new process was designed to promote ongoing organization compliance with accreditation standards.  “We are extremely pleased with the outcome and results of this survey.” say James Craigie, MD, vice president of medical affairs. "This certification demonstrates the commitment to providing high quality and safe care on the part of staff and physicians at Loris Healthcare System."

The new survey process also allows for subsequent unannounced surveys to take place in the 18 to 39 months following the initial unannounced survey.

Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission seeks to improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health care organizations.
